5/14 Hi-Line Wildfire Education Day, Malta. This event will bring together agencies from across the state as well as school-aged youth from Saco to Malta to learn about wildfire preparedness and mitigation. The event will be held at the Milk River Pavilion. A number of agencies already involved, including but not limited to: Phillips County DES, DNRC, BLM, FireSafe Montana, and more! 5/24 Philipsburg Volunteer Fire Department Clam Feed and Fundraiser at the new fire hall starts at 6pm.   Contact Jim Jenner: jim@paccomfilms.com
June 3-4 Learning from the Waldo Canyon Fire, Helena. This community event is in the planning stages, but will likely include guests from Colorado Springs Fire Department. Representatives from Colorado will share information and lessons learned from last summer’s devastating and destructive Waldo Canyon Fire. June 4-6 Montana State Parks AmeriCorps Fire Training Beartooth Wildlife Management Center. Montana State Parks AmeriCorps members are placed in parks around the state to provide educational and interpretive services. The program will be hosting fire training for all 18 current AmeriCorps in preparation for fire season. 6/6 Landowner Fire Safe Workshop, Seeley Lake. The Clearwater Resource Council will be hosting a fuel-reduction event for homeowners. Contact: Roger Marshall, (406) 754-3137
6/6 Whitefish FireSafe Council will be hosting a night community meeting addressing evacuation safety, local fire behavior, and a report from the local firewise communities.  They will also join in with promoting the tip of the day and work on attaining interviews with their local media to help promote Wildfire Awareness Week.
6/7 Landowner Fire Safe Workshop, Swan Valley, Swan Ecosystem Center will host a Landowner Fire Safe Workshop at the Swan Valley Community Hall at 3:00pm. Attendees will learn about how to manage forest land to reduce the risk of wildfire and improve the health and vigor of trees. Additional land stewardship opportunities will be discussed and followed by a tour of completed projects in the valley. Following the tour, there will be a BBQ. RSVP is required. 6/8 Red Lodge Fire Department will have an open house.  Leading up to the week they will be publishing weekly press releases starting the 16th of May. *Becoming a fire adapted community, Fuel mitigation, and Ready Set Go.  The event will feature presentations on Local fire behavior, Ready Set Go, the outcome of Waldo Canyon, tour of fire trucks, etc…  Contact Jon Trapp, (406) 425-3175
6/15 Kootenai Wildland Fire Challenge, Lincoln County.A Saturday event will be held to raise money for the National Wildland Firefighter Foundation. At the event, the Lincoln County educational fire trailer will debut. The event will also include team competitions and youth activities. 6/15 Mitigation Bus Tour, Troy MT. A bus tour will be held in Troy to show homeowners successful mitigation grant projects that have helped homeowners create survivable space around their home and property. 6/19 Park County Fire Farmers Market Sponsorship, Livingston, The Park County FireSafe Coalition will be sponsoring the Livingston Farmers Market. 6/22 Glacier County FireSafe Council will be promoting wildfire awareness during Glacier Park’s Celebration of East Glacier Lodge 100 years of existence.   GPI, RC&D, Blackfeet Fire, BNSF, East Glacier Fire and Smokey Bear will be spreading wildfire awareness and fire prevention during the 100 year celebration.  Contact Bruce Running Crane: brucerc@blackfeetfire.org
June Mid June (date not set)  Crow Agency will be holding a night public meeting addressing last years fires and the lessons learned.  They plan to coordinate with Big Horn and Yellowstone Counties, Burlington Northern Railroad, FireSafe Montana, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, and many others.  Contact: Keith Este
6/27 Great Falls Voyagers Fire Ready Montana Outreach, Great Falls, Fire Ready Montana will be at Pioneer League baseball games this summer. Representatives from the Office of Community Service and other community organizations will be on hand at the game to distribute fire preparedness information. Public service announcements will also run throughout the games, encouraging attendees to prepare. 7/12 Volunteer Fire Department Bobble Head Event, Missoula. There will a bobblehead night at the Missoula Osprey game, when the tradition of fire prevention education continues with a Volunteer Fireman bobblehead giveaway to the first 750 fans through the gates. The bobble heads with be an accurate depiction of a volunteer firefighter in the Missoula-area right down to its gear.
