While this weekend’s forecasted precipitation will hopefully help slow down fire activity across the state, fire season is not over! In the parlance of firefighters, this will be a season-slowing event. For a season-ending event, we need at least 2 inches of sustained rain. High pressure is supposed to rebound and drier conditions are expected by the end of next week.
What can you do to stay prepared for a wildland fire?
* Move piles of wood stacked near your house
* Clean up debris around your house
* Continue thinning and pruning, but not burning—we have to wait until open burn season to do that.
* Have an evacuation plan ready. Use the Ready! Set! Go! guide.
